Sheffield city property vandalized over the weekend

Police in Sheffield are investigating vandalism to city-owned property.

It happened off West 20th Avenue at the property used for police training.

Investigators said the vandals damaged property and stole items sometime between May 18th and May 21st.

Anyone with information should call Sheffield Police.

A 35-year-old man is in jail after was accused of assaulting and abusing a 6-month-old baby.

Kristopher Dale Phillips, 54, Woodland Hills Drive, Florence, is charged with first-degree assault and child abuse, Florence police detective Sgt. Cliff Billingsley said this morning.

He said Phillips was arrested at his residence Monday evening after warrants were issued.

Waterloo man pleads not guilty to child porn charges

A Lauderdale County man whom authorities said took nude photos of a 15-year-old girl without her knowledge, waived an arraignment but entered a plea of not guilty in circuit court, officials said.

Jordan Michael Bain, 26, 310 Pine St., Waterloo, is charged with producing child pornography and unlawful possession of child pornography, according to courthouse officials.

Man arrested after deputies investigate burglaries

 

Deputies arrested a man after investigating an overnight burglary Wednesday at a home on Highway 157 in Colbert County.

Investigators said a noise woke up the homeowner and when he turned the light on he saw a man standing in the bedroom going through the drawers of his gun cabinet. The suspect fled the scene.

According to deputies, another homeowner reported later in the morning that he woke up and discovered a man inside the house. The homeowner yelled at him and the man fled again.

Investigators identified the man as Nicholas Terry and found him asleep in his vehicle in the Walmart parking lot.

Shoals man arrested for allegedly choking girlfriend

Edward Lee Clay is accused of attacking and choking his girlfriend at her home on John Aldridge Street in Tuscumbia.

He was charged with domestic violence strangulation and unauthorized use of a vehicle.

Clay is being held at the Tuscumbia City Jail.

$10,000 worth of stolen items recovered after burglary bust

Muscle Shoals, AL (WAFF) - Two men from Florence are being held in the Colbert County Jail, facing a half dozen criminal charges each.

29 year old Jason Young and 32 year old Jonathan Scott are accused in a string of buries across the area. Sheriff Ronnie May says his deputies have recovered nearly $10,000 worth of stolen guns, jewelry, tools, and medication. They even stole a football autographed by Nick Saban.

Both men are charged with 3 counts of burglary and 3 counts of theft. Additional charges are pending in Franklin County, and the case is being sent to the Colbert County grand jury. The men are being held on $30,000 bond each.

Sheffield Police seek burglar who stole cash, weapons

Sheffield, AL (WAFF) - Sheffield Police are looking for a 29 year old man in connection with a burglary late last year.

According to investigators, 29 year old Harvey Antwan Sherrod broke into the Gray's Tackle Shop on Jackson Highway on December 29th. He stole weapons and cash from the store.

As of right now, police have not been able to track Sherrod down. If you know where he is, call Sheffield Police at (256) 383-1771.
