Arraignment date set for accused killer | Crime
The Colbert County man accused of killing a man and holding his family hostage will be in court next month.
A grand jury indicted Derek Burt on multiple counts of capital murder.
He's accused of shooting and killing Harry Ricks in Colbert County in 2008.
It happened during a home invasion. Investigators say Burt tied up the family, but shot Harry Ricks when the Ricks broke free.
Investigators say two other people were involved, but Burt is the only person charged as of now.
Burt will be arraigned November 6th.
